(WTNH) - Two U.S. senators will be traveling to the Middle East in the coming days.

Ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), and member and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Near East, South Asia, Central Asia, and Counterterrorism, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), will make the trip.

"The U.S. faces complex challenges around the world, particularly in the Middle East," said Sens. Murphy and Romney in a press release. "It is critical that we maintain and strengthen our alliances with key partners in the region."

The goal of the meeting is enhance relationships between the United States and allies in the region.

"Over the next several days, we look forward to discussing shared priorities and strategies to meet those challenges," said Sens. Murphy and Romney.
