EAST GRANBY, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy says he’s confident that the full Senate and House will approve the $6.3 million approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee for a new terminal and training center for the Bradley Air National Guard Base in East Granby.
The facility would support the 103rd Airlift Wing and its eight C-130 aircraft, which perform key personnel and cargo transport missions for the military. The unit is due to be deployed again next year.
Sen. Murphy says the new funding, combined with prior investments in the unit, place it in a good position to fend off any future attempts to close the base. The last Base Realignment and Closure process occurred in 2005.
