HARTFORD – A Waterbury woman spoke at a press conference Friday morning with U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., as part of an effort to end the ongoing civil war in Yemen.

Fatimah Aulaqi launched an online fundraiser that’s raised $600,000 for relief aid for Yemenis suffering in a brutal civil war.

On Friday morning, she joined Murphy, who is championing a resolution before Congress to pressure Saudi Arabia and the Trump administration to seek an end to the war.

Aulaqi, the child of Yemeni immigrants, was born and raised in Waterbury.
