BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– Lawmakers in Connecticut want to make sure women business owners are getting the support they need to be successful.
And part of that means making sure women have a chance to win more contracts from the federal government. This would open the door for more women-owned small businesses here in Connecticut. One local lawmaker wants to make it happen.
Now this means women would have more small business opportunities and get access to federal contracting. Monday, Senator Chris Murphy will visit Penn Globe, a local company in based Branford and it’s woman owned. They manufacturer energy-saving lighting fixtures.
The Senator will look into the needs of Connecticut women business owners and how they can they get more access to federal contracting. Murphy backed legislation that encourages women-owned small business to have more opportunities, so this would open the door for women to land more federal contracts so it’s a win win.
Murphy will tour the Branford business later this afternoon.
