WASHINGTON (WTNH) — US Senators Chris Murphy and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana are hosting a mental health summit in Washington, D.C. Thursday.

Mental health experts, providers, and advocates were all on hand, including members of the group Sandy Hook Promise. The discussion will focus on the state of mental health care nationwide.

“In Connecticut, we regulate our primary care clinics differently through a different regulatory agency than our behavioral health clinics,” said Sen. Murphy. “Our bill attacks that by setting up funding for states to remove these regulatory barriers.”

The two senators are hosting the summit in the hopes to call on Congress to pass a comprehensive mental health care reform bill.
