Connecticut's two U.S. Senators are engaged in a friendly bet with their counterparts from Indiana over the outcome of the women's national championship game between the University of Connecticut and Notre Dame.

Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy are wagering an array of treats from Munson's Chocolates, based in Bolton. Indiana Sens. Dan Coates and Joe Donnelly are offering up a basket of goodies from the South Bend Chocolate Company.

"Notre Dame is a good team, but UConn has looked fantastic all tournament, so I’m looking forward to a big win tonight,'' Murphy said in a press release announcing the wager.

"I’ll be rooting for Coach Auriemma, Breanna Stewart, Morgan Tuck, and a Huskies roster stacked with talent tonight, and I look forward to enjoying treats from Indiana after UConn wins,'' added Blumenthal.

The Indiana lawmakers were equally confident. "This Irish team has found a way to win all year,” said Donnelly, a Notre Dame alum. “Coach McGraw has them ready to beat the Huskies tonight. I look forward to Notre Dame bringing home the national championship trophy to South Bend."

Meanwhile, there's no word on whether Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has engaged in a similar friendly wager with his counterpart, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.
