On Wednesday, August 5th, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy hosted a telephone town hall for constituents to discuss his Counseling Not Criminalization in School Act. The bill aims to curtail the school to prison pipeline by shifting how the federal government invests in school safety - moving away from the presence of police and increasing the number of counselors, mental health professionals and trauma-informed staff that have been proven to improve school climate. Senator Murphy discussed what the bill does and doesn't do and answered questions from constituents. You can listen to the full town hall here.
